Description

20-degree hammock camping warmth in one straightforward, synthetic-insulated sleep system.

The GrandTrunk Evolution 20 Synthetic Sleeping Bag Hammock combines a hammock and sleeping bag so insulation surrounds you from above and below. Its weather-resistant ripstop nylon and synthetic fill make it a practical option for cool-weather camping when simplicity and value matter more than minimizing packed weight.

  • Built-in insulation: synthetic fill provides warmth above and below
  • Cold-weather ready: 20°F temperature rating
  • Integrated sleep system: hammock and sleeping bag in one design
  • Complete storage kit: compression sack and storage sack included

Why We Love It

This is a value-focused choice for cold-weather hammock camping. It delivers the simplicity of an all-in-one insulated hammock at a more approachable price than the down-filled version.

Best for: cool-weather camping, car camping, backyard camping, and campers who want an integrated insulated setup without prioritizing ultralight packed weight.

Will It Fit My Space?

The hammock measures 10 ft. 6 in. long × 5 ft. 6 in. wide. Your exact hanging span depends on your anchor points and suspension system.

  • Using trees? Choose structurally suitable trees and properly rated tree-friendly straps.
  • Using another anchor? Confirm the anchor and all suspension components are rated for hammock use.
  • Before you go: make sure your suspension system works with your planned campsite and the included carabiners.

What's Included?

  • Evolution 20 Synthetic Sleeping Bag Hammock
  • 2 lightweight aluminum carabiners
  • Compression sack
  • Storage sack

Not included: hammock straps and other suspension equipment.

Setup & Compatibility

Connect the hammock to a properly rated suspension system at suitable anchor points and adjust the hang before getting in. Because the insulation is integrated, there are fewer separate sleep components to position. Inspect the fabric, zipper, seams, carabiners, suspension, and anchors before each use.

Super cozy

I’ve only used the hammock in 40 degree temps but it kept me incredibly warm. The UQ portion might be a little tight but it doesn’t seem to affect the performance. I only wish it came in a color other than teal.

Fantastic Hammock

I was looking to upgrade my hammock setup and this ticked all the boxes. Used it the last 3 weekends in single digit temps at night....was perfectly warm and didn't feel cramped...Hammock has plenty of room to lay flat and get a great sleep.

Worth the money

I camped in just a couple of nights so far. The range of tempreratures ranged from 32F to low 40's. Surprisingly, it felt much warmer with lower temps, because the himidity dropped. Which hight humidity in low 40's I had to use nalgine bottle, because my feet wouldn't keep warm on their own. I find there is too much space for feet that makes it harder to maitain the heat. Another minus is lack of any storage space. Even side pocket in the construction would be extemely helpful.

So impressed I actually wrote a review.

I've used other hammocks as camping bed many times in the past. Usually for our Alberta summers the temps get down to 10C, past that the lack of insulation from all sides makes them usually too chilly without an extensive set up that tents start looking preferred. Two nights ago I trialled this one in -8C, light wind late November night and was very surprised. I'm 205lbs 5'11, with my insulated coveralls on I was just under those sweating warm temps. Perfectly cozy. Although there are no mosquitos I suspect zipped up with a bug net headpiece it would be completely bug proof as well for other seaons, the underquilt is too thick to be bitten through unlike a stand alone regular hammock. Has enough room inside for a little angled flat laying, and a blanket but probably not for two people, although might be possible with two smaller folks than myself. I was impressed enough I bought the down evo as well to keep in my truck full time as aside from anything past -10c I'd say this could handle it with clothes on in a worst case scenario. Also, it's not stated but I see no reason this couldn't be used as a sleeping bag/blanket if a tent was around with open space. Really just a versatile piece of gear that I have no regrets owning two of.

Seriously impressive

I bought the synthetic 20 mostly to save cost and evaluate the quality of product before spending more on the lighter down version. I’m very impressed. I have hammocks and under quilts and even other hammocks with built in under quilts that I have spent thousands of dollars on. This hammock will now be my simple go to hammock for anything over freezing weather. What I really like is that I can point friends to this to get into hammock camping. It’s a small price and a single item that doesn’t take research and a learning curve to figure out under quilts and top quilts and have lengthy shopping list from many different companies. I would also recommend this to anyone that just needs a decent sleeping bag. I tried it on the ground and it works great for that, too! That really simplifies a packout and a one for all situations for a really good price! I only gave it four stars because every hammock of any quality should include a structural ridge line especially an introductory hammock like this one. Even an option for one would be better. I put one on and set it to around 88% and it takes this setup from great to awesome.

What I need!

First off, I’m only giving it 4 stars because I haven’t used it yet! After my last trip I decided I needed to consolidate. This is perfect. No more multiple packs for hammock, straps, sleeping bag, under quilt. I can’t wait to break it in on my December camping trip. Im sure the 5th star will follow soon!
