Evolution 20° Down Sleeping Bag Hammock

This hammock is incredibly comfortable and quick to set up and take down, making it a great choice for backpacking trips. However, it is not comfort-rated to 20°F as advertised—I’d estimate it’s more suitable for temperatures around 45°F or higher. I’ve used it in conditions down to 40°F and found it uncomfortably cold in spots due to the down migrating in the horizontal baffles, because of this, some areas had absolutely zero down and led to icy cold spots. To stay warm in colder weather, I recommend pairing it with a secondary sleeping bag or quilt and an underquilt protector for added insulation and to protect your investment. I gave this hammock four stars due to concerns about the stitching on the two primary seams where the insulation meets the hammock. These seams go clear across the hammock. The stitching doesn’t seem tight enough, and I can see light through these areas. The loose stitching seems to be a common concern amongst other reviews. This raises questions about durability, as it looks like the seams could fail under stress. That said, this could be part of the hammock’s engineering or design, but it does leave me slightly uneasy. While the warranty should cover any issues, my primary concern is safety. Despite these concerns, the hammock’s comfort, ease of use, and value stand out. I liked it so much that I even bought a second one for friends to use on our backpacking trips. Overall, it’s a great product, but keep an eye on the stitching and take steps to stay warm in colder weather.

I purchased this hammock during recent sale. For the past (3) weeks I have slept in it for 18/21 days. The first week temps over night were only mid 30 deg and I only needed sweatpants and sweatshirt, warm and cozy over night. The second week and this week over night temps have been low 20 deg, I have added a light weight sleeping bag inside this hammock. What is great about this hammock is that I no longer need an under quilt or over quilt for winter camping. Actually since I sleep outside at min 5 nights a week (due to back problems hammock is only way I can sleep without pain during the day) this is the best winter set up I have found. I own over dozen hammock and Grand Trunk is the best due to quality and the fact it does not stretch like the other name brand hammock. I have a permit hammock stand at my house in the back yard. I have used hammocks for over 20 years ever since my son stared camping with Boy Scouts and our troop only uses hammocks.

This hammock sleeping bag is awesome - I've used it a couple of times now and absolutely love it. It is warm and comfortable, and I'd highly recommend it.

I’ve been doing a longevity test with this set up. I started about nine months ago. I’ve been sleeping in it constantly four -five nights a week. It’s been perfect in the winter. I didn’t need it under quilt. I’m moving into spring summer. Various lightweight clothing still doing fine very comfortable as eliminated in. Need for a sleeping bag.

I've written a review on this product last year. Temperatures dropped to 18°F last night , with zero wind. I had a very thin 100% polyester base layer(top and bottom) with a 250 100% merino wool layer over it(top and bottom), merino socks, and a pair of light shorts, and a beanie....there were a few cold spots in the hammock but overall I was able to get warm enough to sleep....WHEN ARE YOU GONNA MAKE A 0 DEGREE VERSION??,!!! ( I need it for my appalachian trail thru hike in 2026)

I've been hammock camping since before it was a thing. I'm sure I own 7-10 hammocks, 3 underquilts, top quilts, pads, etc. I've probably spent 10-15 nights in this hammock so far and it's so easy, so cozy and exactly what it is advertised to be. I don't know about 20 degrees, but I've been down to freezing and reasonably comfortable. There's no having to move the quilt to cover your shoulder, no problem sealing the quilt, no tucking the top quilt then being totally still so you don't get cold. It's like hanging a sleeping bag from two trees and losing yourself in the puff of quilting. Love it.

This was a product that I round to good to be true, but after having it for about a month or so and using it a couple times I really enjoy it. I’m over 6ft and about 285 and fit good, it is smaller than traditional hammocks but still comfortable. I do only cold hikes and this has been good so far. Used it a couple times in 30 degree weather and have been comfortable on nothing else but tshirt and shorts. I’m am typing this right now from my backyard hanging above 6inches of snow.

Love it. So cozy, so easy to set up, packs down the same size as a sleeping bag. Comes with compression sack and storage bag. No straps included so make sure you buy some with it or already have some. Definitely takes a little playing around with tensions and making sure you’ve hung it level to get it dialed but it’s so cozy and so much better than a camping mat. Just gotta find the campsites with trees now!

Tried it this weekend. The worked very nicely extremely warm. Would recommend. Would recommend a pouch be sewed on. But I would recommend.

Really comfortable. Easy to pack up/store. Great for backpacking. I wish it was a little warmer on the bottom side. Had it down to the high 40s and had a cold butt. Otherwise it's awesome. Replaced my under quilt, sleeping bag and hammock.

My first night the low was 26 degrees. I did get too cool for comfort. I had an emergency blanket with me. I got in it and I did stay warm in the bag. I did like the I did not have to contend with getting in a sleeping bag.
