Roo Single UL Ultralight Camping Hammock

Great lightweight hammock, but it doesn't fit a sleeping pad well. Works great for just a sleeping bag or nothing at all

Bought this for my son to continue lightening his overall pack weight. He says this hammock performs like a traditional double hammock.

This hammock packs small is great with the UL straps I can keep in a daily backpack and setup anywhere. Overall the hammock is super comfortable.

This Hammock its leightweight, durable, comfortable and easy to setup when paired with the Python 10 UL Straps! Even though it is a bit pricy, its worth it because the material is extremely high quality (used about 50 times and no signs of wear and tear) and its very comfortable to sleep in!

It's pricey but packs down insanely small. I've used it on many trips and can't imagine a better hammock.

I paired the green Roo UL with the UL Pythons and it’s an attractive color pairing! Incredibly lightweight and small. I can carry both items in my Aer 2.5L sling and still have TONS of room for my other EDC items. It’s freeing to know I have the tools I need on me to kick back and relax whenever I want (and can find the trees to do so). The Roo UL is so small in my pack, I barely notice it’s there.

I didn’t think that I’d like the lightweight toggle system vs. carabiners. Now I wish ALL of my hammocks used these toggles. They are strong and secure, and a fraction of the weight and volume of a set of carabiners! This helps the Roo UL to pack down so tiny.

The UL is my favorite hammock to pair with the Swiftlet stand. The shorter length to this hammock allows it to hang on the stand without the hammock fabric bunching — if you have the Swiftlet adjusted to the top settings. I’m 5’4” and this is a match made in heaven for me!

I strongly prefer this UL fabric to that of the standard Roo. The UL is thinner and easier to pack in the stuff sack. The fabric is more breathable, and has a pleasantly soft touch to it. I cannot comment on longevity of the product since it was a recent acquisition. However, Kammok has a reputation for standing behind their products so I’m not worried.

I would love to see a “double” version made with this UL fabric. Or even a larger “single” with dimensions matching the standard Roo. I understand this hammock is made for folks to get by with an absolute minimum pack weight. I’m of the camp that would like something more roomy, that can accommodate the Pongo air pad, and is made of this soft UL material.

Brought on some forest adventures and i lock how small this hammock packs down to. Super comfortable, very light, when paired with the UL python 10s they hardly take up any room inside of a pack.

This hammock is very light and small when packed away, yet durable. I've used it several times and have brought it with me on a backpacking trip where I camped 3 nights with it. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good portable hammock that doesn't take up much space. It's made of ripstop and the manufacturing is obviously quality. You won't be disappointed with this. Also, Kammock has wonderful customer service.

We all used ENO hammocks to lounge in on our canoe trips. This hammock is just as comfy for less than half the weight! It’s a gram counters dream.

This is a super small and lightweight option. Great for taking breaks on day hikes or just getting off your feet for a bit on a backpacking trip.

Just like its name suggests, it is ultra light, and I feel like I'm enveloped in a marsupial pouch. Also the instructions are pretty funny

I already have a Mantis all in one but this UL is the one I pick up without doubt on any mountain trek! It's amazingly light and packs even smaller than a pair of socks.

I love the Roo Hamock to enjoy peaceful times in nature.

Had an issue with the strap system, their customer service did not hesitate to initiate and send me a new hammock within a few days of hearing about my issue. Product is lightweight and functional. Overall good buy from a quality company, easily worth the price tag!

Excellent UL hammock. Take it everywhere!

I was stoked for trying out this UL system but there is 1 tiny flaw resulting in major frustration. The loop (on the hammock, not the straps) where you pass the toggle through is a bit too small and I really struggled to pass the toggle through. There is like zero extra room in the loop making it nearly impossible to setup (especially with cold fingers). Simply adding 1 cm of extra material in the loop system would dramatically bump this to a 4 or 5 star product but until then it is just a major frustration.

The hammock's size and weight are fantastic -- but it ripped on its second trip. The trade off with UL gear is that it's less durable, but it shouldn't break when it's brand new and used within spec.

Amazingly durable, incredibly lightweight and super-comfortable. Ultralight backpackers should seriously consider this as an alternative sleeping option.

I got this for bikepacking, where space is limited, and this hammock is perfect! So small and lightweight. (8oz on my scale for BOTH the hammock and the python UL straps)

I own two ul hammocks. This is my favorite of the two.

I bought the hammock based on the positive reviews however when I got to my backcountry camp spot I setup the hammock and carefully crawled in. After about 15 seconds I began hearing some strange sounds and within the next 10 seconds my hammock had completely separated at the seems at one end. The only way I could use it was to tie the actual hammock in a knot so the fabric was supporting itself not the brutal lightweight stitching. I only weigh 160 pounds - almost half of the weight limit. What a let down

Awesome hammock! Way easier to carry and lighter than my double hammock. Should be easy to take everywhere. An issue I had was one of the toggle and loop was defective. The loop was too small and the toggle wasn't able to pass. This was quickly resolved by customer support and they've sent me a new one. Great company that stands behind their product.

I got this hammock in winter of 2019 and was blown away by its size. I like to go bikepacking (usually weekend trips) and had been lugging a big ol' double hammock around. The entire previous hammock set up was about 4 times the size of the Roo UL—huge upgrade in weight and total packing size.

After a few months of waiting, I decided to set it up and test in my local park before my first trip of the year. It set up great, very easy, but I noticed a large rip in the hammock. I have no idea if I ripped it while setting it up or if I got a mucked up hammock, either way, REI swapped it out no problem.

The weight capacity is 300lbs and I'm well under that. I wasn't too deterred to use it on my trip, albeit a little nervous, but it held up great. No issues, no sketchy sounds, or even a hint of ripping. The suspension/clip system is brilliant and works perfectly with my ENO Helios straps. I also was testing out a new sleeping pad on this trip and it was ultimately too large for the hammock. The large pad paired with a narrow single hammock caused it to slide around, popping my feet over the side, and other annoying things—I did not sleep well that night at all.

I swapped out the large pad with an older, smaller pad, on my next trip and it worked far better. The hammock was snug and didn't allow me to sleep diagonally, but it worked pretty well. The pad does have a tendency, still, to slide out on one side or the other, but less so. The breathable material allowed a cool breeze on uninsulated areas of my body, but it's bearable in the summer weather. On my third trip of the year, I found a ton of success with this hammock. I still experienced my sleeping pad sliding a little, but it was fine. I attribute the success of this trip to a more level set up.

I haven't had any issues with material ripping and haven't noticed much wear so far. All in all, this is a pretty solid UL hammock. If you have a wider sleeping pad/sleeping bag set up, you might reconsider this purchase. Because of the sleeping pad incompatibilities, I'm considering an underquilt, as I feel that will be better suited for the limited width, sliding, and the lack of side insulation.

Not only is this a very packable hammock, it’s also very comfortable and breathable. You can feel the breeze through it. And yeah it packs down small enough to fit in my pocket.
